I believe the way investment is structured is as important as how it is invested.
At Camston Asset Management, client portfolios are managed through separately managed accounts, held at independent custodians. This means clients directly own the securities in their portfolios. There is no pooling of assets and no reliance on complex structures.
This approach is not novel, but it is deliberate.
Direct ownership provides clarity. Clients can see precisely what they own and understand how their capital is allocated. It also preserves flexibility. Capital can be added or withdrawn as circumstances change, without the constraints often found in pooled vehicles.
It establishes transparency, which I believe foundational to any relationship.
Additionally, a substantial portion of my own savings is invested in the same philosophy as my clients, in the same structure. I believe alignment with my clients is crucial to mutual trust. This creates a structure to help ensure that my decisions reflect the same prudence and discipline I apply to my savings. When it comes to investing, aligning interests and maintaining transparency are not just sound principles, I believe they're essential to achieving long-term goals.
